Over 100 people from all parts of Lewisham’s diverse community filled the atrium of the Stuart Hall building on Friday the 24th May for the opening of the ‘Austerity Bites: Food Stories from Lewisham’ exhibition. The buzz was amazing, and the community tasting menu provided by Cummin’ Up Caribbean caterers went down a storm. We lived for those few hours the way in which food can act as a powerful catalyst for bringing people together. For the organisers, it was a satisfying exercise in building (edible) bridges between Goldsmiths University and the wider community it is embedded within.
